Setmaps errors
Question:
Getting setmaps errors when I logoff my machine. I have just finished
upgrading from 3.1.5 to 3.2.5 I get the following errors when I logoff
my system:
setmaps: makemaps: a file or directory in the pathname does notexist
setmaps: unable to create map from /usr/lib/nls/termmap/ibm3151-c.in
setmaps: makemaps: a file or directory in the pathname does notexist
setmaps: unable to create map from /usr/lib/nls/termman/ibm3151-c.out
Then I get a login prompt. What causes these errors, and can I get rid
of them?
The messages above are telling you that a file does not exist. To fix
this run smit and go to the following:
Devices
TTY
Change/Show Characteristics of tty
Change/Show NLS Mapping Discipline of a TTY
Inside here, make sure the following coincide:
INPUT map file [none] +
OUTPUT map file [none] +
These should be set to none, unless you have a terminal that has the
specific map file. For AIX 3.2.5, you have the following choices:
none
aixterm
ibm3161-C
ibm3164-german
vt220
If you had previous files that were custom made read them from
a backup tape into the /usr/lib/nls/termmap directory.
