How do I install fortran.rte on my system?

Question:

I have a brand new install of AIX version 3.2.5 and my system does not
have fortran.rte. How can I get FORTRAN installed on my system or
how do I check and see if it's already installed?

Answer:

Type lslpp -h xlfrte.obj and lslpp -h xlfcmp.obj. If it is not
listed, then you need to install the lpp on your system. To check
and see if FORTRAN is on the install media, put the tape in the tape
drive, type smit install, Install/Update, (Custom Install), Install From
All Available Software on Media, press F4 for a listing and look for it.
If you see it, then you can install it. If you do not see it, then you
need to either call your local branch or AIX Catalog Sales to order the
software.

You do have a tape with xlfrte listed on the label. You attempted
the install using SMIT. SMIT returned the following error:

 0503-269 installp: The following software products will not be
   applied unless products upon which they depend are applied first.

 Product xlfcmp.obj
 at level 2.3.0.11.U491193 requires:
  * xlfcmp.obj v=02, r=03, m=0000
  * xlfrte.obj v=2, r=3
 Product xlfrte.obj
 at level 2.3.0.11.U419627 requires:
  * xlfrte.obj v=02, r=03, m=0000

This was the error we received after typing smit install, Choosing
Install/Update, (Custom Install), Install From All Available Software
Products, typing /dev/rmt0, pressing F4 for a listing, and choosing
all the xlfrte.obj software products.

After researching this item, and calling IBM Software Manufacturing
& Delivery and looking at your profile for your 590 RS6000, it was
determined that you did not order FORTRAN for your RS6000. You ordered
a new tape. Once you get the tape with the install images, you will
be able to install FORTRAN on your system. FORTRAN does not come
with the base operating system for AIX. It must be explicitly ordered.
