Model 220 - IENT_ERR4 Error with AIX 3.2.3

Question:

Customer has a RISC System/6000 7011-220 running AIX 3.2.3 over the 
network. During normal operation the system will slow down.

The customer gets the following message in the error report when this
problem occurs:

PROBABLE CAUSES UNDETERMINED                        

Response:

This is a problem with the integrated ethernet driver in 
AIX 3.2.3. The RISC System/6000 model 220 uses the integrated ethernet. 
It does not handle mbuf problems well. There is a new integrated ethernet
driver  PTF U417895 (for AIX 3.2.3), or  PTF U422458 (in AIX 3.2.5). 
The second PTF requires an upgrade to AIX 3.2.5.
