will a 3532-023 ps/2 tape drive work with model 220

Question:

I have a ps/2 model 95 running SCO unix. I want to purchase a tape
drive that will work on the ps/2 and will be able to be moved to a
model 220 later on.

Response:

I have searched on the different tape drives available and have come
up with the following results:

(1) 3532-023 : ps/2 8mm tape drive that customer was thinking of
buying. This tape drive is only supported on the ps/2. There is no
announcement anywhere listing it as supported on the system/6000.

7208 : 8mm tape drive for system/6000

This tape drive can connect to both a system/6000 and PS/2. The 7208 will work fine off the
standard IBM SCSI adapters (not the fast wide adapter). Under OS/2,
you set it up the same as a 3532 and use Sytos Plus 1.37.

According to ps/2 support the 7208 is not officially compatible with
the ps/2.
