Question on increasing the size of a filesystem

Question:

I have a machine running 3.2.4. I recently tried to increase the size
of a filesystem and it would not let me. The filesystem is not in
rootvg and I am using RAID-5 drives. What should I do? Also, what
is the size limit of a filesystem?

Response:

A filesystem has a limit of 2 GB in size. This means that you can
have 512 Physical Partions (PP), where each PP is 4 MB in size.
You have over 700 PP's free, so you aren't running into a lack of
resources keeping you from increasing your filesystem. You went
into SMIT and selected to "Change a Logical Volume. The limit was
set to 256 maximum Logical Partitions for that logical volume that
the filesystem resides on. This limitation is what was causing his
problem. It needed to be 512 and you changed it to 512. After
that you were able to increase the filesystem size.
