Netview/6000 problems following 3.2.5 upgrade

Question:

When I try to do remote system administration, NetView challanges me for
the password, and when I enter it, the window goes away and nothing happens.
Other Netview functions have become unpredictable. Can somebody help
get this working again? I also have a ci error message problem.

Response:

AIX 3.2.5 incorporates Motif** Version 1.1.4 and 1.2. As of today,
 the NetView/6000 products (V1, 5765-077; V2R1, 5696-362; or Entry V1,
5696-464) support only Motif 1.1.4 (not Motif 1.2).

These NetView/6000 products will operate on AIX 3.2.5 as long as you
install Motif 1.1.4 and run the NetView/6000 products on such.
If Motif 1.2 is already installed on AIX 3.2.5, you can issue the
following AIX command to activate Motif 1.1.4 to run the NetView/6000
 products:

     /usr/lpp/X11rte/set_symlinks.Motif1.1

To toggle back to Motif 1.2, issue the following AIX command:

     /usr/lpp/X11rte/set_symlinks.Motif1.2

For further information read the '/usr/lpp/X11/README.MOTIF' file.

Change the LIBPATH environment variable to X11 R4 instead of X11 R5:
   "/usr/lpp/X11/lib:/usr/lib:/lib"

NOTE: To support AIX 3.2.5, these NetView/6000 products will require:
o For NetView/6000 V1: PTF U421281 or later PTF installed
o For NetView/6000 V2R1: PTF U424580 or later PTF installed
o For NetView/6000 Entry: PTF U424500 or later PTF installed

 NetView/6000 support for PowerPC:
 ---------------------------------
PowerPC technology requires running on AIX 3.2.5. NetView/6000 V2R1
will operate on the POWERstation*/POWERserver* 250 series with the
PowerPC technology (assuming that your AIX 3.2.5 has Motif 1.1.4
activated per the above). However, NetView/6000 V1 and NetView/6000
Entry V1 have not yet been tested with the PowerPC technology.
Development is addressing this testing requirement.

 NetView/6000 Support for POWER2:
 --------------------------------
NetView/6000 V1, V2R1, and Entry V1 have not yet been tested with
the POWER2 technology. Development is also addressing this testing
requirement. More information regarding all the above testing should
be available in the near future.

To correct the ci error follow the directions in infoexplorer:

Cannot connect to CI (Communications Infrastructure)
Check the following:

Step 1. Ensure that the ovesmd and ovelmd daemons are running.
Step 2. Check the file /usr/OV/conf/ovors. This file contains the hostname
and IP address of the machine.
Step 3. If the hostname and/or IP address does not match that of the current
machine, then this is causing the problem and the file needs to be
regenerated. This might occur when the hostname and/or IP address
that the AIX NetView/6000 program is running on is different than at
install time. For example, the program is installed on one machine, a
mksysb is done to backup the system, and the system restored on
another machine. This might also occur if the name server is
        disconnected.
Step 4. To regenerate the file, exit AIX NetView/6000 and issue the following
        commands:
                        ovstop OVORS_M
                        rm /usr/OV/conf/ovors
                        ovstart OVORS_M
                        ovaddobj /usr/OV/lrf/ovelmd.lrf
                        ovaddobj /usr/OV/lrf/ovesmd.lrf
Then re-start the AIX NetView/6000 program. The event cards should
         display.
