Error on SMUX interface - error code 4294967295

QUESTION:

   The customer is running AIX 4.2.1 and CS/AIX V5
   The customer is getting many occurance of the following
   error in the /var/sna/sna.err log:

SNMP     Message 4105 - 5, Subcode: 1 - 1
Log category: PROBLEM   Cause Type: External
System: axe
Process ID: 6414 (snasnmp)

Error on SMUX interface - error code 4294967295.

Cause:  The SNMP Agent encountered an error on the SMUX interface.
Action:  Ensure the SMUX Master Agent (snmp daemon) is running. Otherwise if
the problem is reported frequently contact support services with error and
audit logs.

ANSWER:

   This error is indicative of a problem between the
   "snasnmp" daemon of CS/AIX V5 and the "snmpd" daemon
   of AIX.

   To eliminate these SMUX error messages, do ALL of the
   following:

1) ensure that the "snmpd" daemon is running (lssrc -s snmpd).
   if it is not, start it. (startsrc -s snmpd)

2) apply the latest ptf for CS/AIX V5 (5.0.2.0)

3) apply the latest ptf for bos.net.tcp.client
   (for AIX 4.2.1 it is 4.2.1.17)
