Question:
PROBLEM SUMMARY:

sysback 4.2.0
Problem:
I do this:
smitty sysback
Configuration Options
Network Boot/Install Configuration
Add or Change a Network Boot Client
Client network adapter type [ethernet]
Client platform/kernel type [rspc]
Client hostname [mod43p-240]
Server IP address [9.19.129.186]
Client gateway address (optional) [9.19.145.240]
Client subnet mask (optional) []
Client adapter hardware address (optional) []
If I go back into that option, the values for the gateway, subnet and hw
address are blank. Also the values for the adapter type and platfrom type
are back to the defaults.

I setup a client using the same hostname and values you showed above
but did not experience any problem. All of the values I setup came back
without any problem. Can you give me a specific test case where I can
see your problem?
Thanks.

You can see this on my system:
tn 9.19.129.186 (systape2.aix.dfw.ibm.com)

The problem is that the hostname is stored in the /etc/bootptab
file using the full domain name, but SMIT only looks for the
client hostname according to the base hostname. I changed the
initial selection of hosts for this option to get the list from
the bootptab file instead of lo9oking for clients in the
/tftpboot directory. You will be able to select a client with
a full domain name but the rest will work the same.
