. PROBLEM:
.When tries to write to newly attached 7208-341 tape drive using any
commmand (tar, dd, cpio, backup) and gets error:

"an error occurred while writing to the storage media. 
"a system call received a parameter that is not valid."
.tctl commands work fine
.ACTION TAKEN:

Example:

.Block Size is 1024 --> ok
Denisty Setting 1 = 39 --> ok
Denisty Setting 2 = 39 --> ok
.Tapes Used are: 
IBM 170m Advanced Metal Evaporated --> ok

.Device is twin tailed to (2) F50s in this manner:
.Y Cable to from Adapter of Host 1 to port 0 of tape drive
Terminator on other Y portion of Y cable
.Y Cable from Adapter of Host 2 to port 1 of tape drive
Terminator on other Y portion of Y cable
.Adapter Type is 4-B
PCI SCSI-2 Differential F/W --> ok
.Adapter SCSI ID on Host 1 is 6 --> ok
Adapter SCSI ID on Host 2 is 5 --> ok
Tape Drive SCSI ID is 2 --> ok
.Had another customer with an internal 7208-341 that experienced the
same problem and removing the device and doing a reboot resolved the
problem.
.Customer noted that at AIX 4.3 that there is a specific fileset 
that supports twintailing of devices.
.Therefore, we did the followingg:
.Installed bos.twintail on both hosts from the AIX 4.3 install cd
rmdev -dl rmt0 --> on both hosts
Power Cycle the Tape Drive 
shutdown -Fr on both hosts
.tar -cvf /dev/rmt0 /etc
--> Works properly on both hosts
.tar -tvf /dev/rrmt0
--> Works properly on both hosts.
.*Special Notes: 
.The minimum supported AIX level for this drive is
AIX 4.1.5 or AIX 4.2.1 and above. 
.AIX 4.1.4 and AIX 4.2.0 DO NOT support this drive. Although it will
come available, you will not be able to read and write from it.
.The drive is READ ONLY for all 7GB, 5GB, and 2.3GB Tapes.
.*ACTION PLAN:
.Closing with customer approval.
