How does System Monitor pick the file that it uses when starts up

Question:

What configuration file is used when it starts up? Whenever we have
system monitor starting up it will look in the directory specified or
the default directory. Whatever directory you tell it to look at it
reads every file in that directory. How do you specifiy a specific
configuration?

Through the end user interface can configure and save the file. One of the
MIB variables. There is a program control local MIB variable contains
the same name as the previous configuration file that had been saved.
The description is not clear. It says that this file name will be used
at initialization. This does not seem to be true.

Response:

While the smit screen for starting up the configuration
and the manual say to add the full directory name for the -c flag on
sm6000; adding the configuration file name at the end of the
full path name will actually address the configuration question
and cause a specific file to be read.

Verified the MIB variable:
enterprises.ibm.ibmProd.systemsMonitor6000.sm6kProgramInformation.
sm6kProgramData.sm6kProgramControl.sm6kProgramControlLocalConfigurationFile
MIB entry which is described as follows:

Name of a local configuration file. When this field is set to a file
name, a local configuration file is written which will be used on the
next initialization of the AIX Systems Monitor/6000 program. If this
field is cleared, the default configuration files are read.

does not provide that interface. Recommended that the customer contact
IBM Defect Support.
