Level/Compatibility issues for AADU.

Question:

I have a model 580 running 3.2.4 and a model 590 at 3.2.5, both
running the pci.obj program.

The 580 pci pgm level is at 3.2.0.0 and the 590 pci pgm level is
3.3.0.1.

The users are using aadu over the network from their pc's and the
bosnet.tcpip levels are different also. On the 580 it is at 3.2 with
the 3.2.4 maintenance level applied (U491004) and on 590 bosnet.tcpip
is at 3.2 with the 3.2.5 maintenance level applied (U491130).

Based on the above configuration running AADU, since we have added the
590 to our network, we have had trouble seeing the hosts that the pc
users can see/connect to. The DOS AADU programs on the pc's have not
changed.

Is there any compatibility issues about running two different versions
of pci.obj and bosnet.tcpip that could account for the "unrecognized
hosts" problem we are encountering ?

Response:

DOS Server level 3.2 and 3.3 should not be mixed on the network or
strange results may be seen.
This has to do with the difference in the way the mapserver binds with
the IP layer between the 2 levels. The release notes for 3.3 DOS Server
has a large warning block on page 1 that notifies the user of this
restriction. Also, told John that AADU 1.1.1 will not work with DOS
Server 3.3 but AADU 2.1 will, and that DOS Server 3.3 MUST be used if
AADU 3.1 is used.
Discussed options and decided it was probably best for him to reinstall
DOS Server 3.2 over the 3.3 level on the one system he had at this level,
because he has no AADU 3.1 clients. All are at the AADU 2.1 level.
