Questions on MIBs for RISC System/6000?
Question:
Customer wants info on where to find source for Enterprise MIBs for
RISC System/6000?
Response:
If one has Netview/6000 installed the mibs are located in the
/usr/OV/snmp_mibs directory and the mib definition file that will provide
more information is /etc/mib.defs.
Customer actually wants the MIBs for the RISC System/6000 and does not
have Netview/6000 installed. However, the MIBs will not do the
customer any good without an agent on the RISC System/6000 that will
utilize the MIB and fill in the values for the MIB fields. The agent
that we provide is trapgend (only available through Netview/6000).
Customer then wanted to know whether we sold trapgend seperately for
managing the RISC System. Once one purchases Netview/6000 trapgend may
be installed on machines that will be managed by Netview/6000.
Another approach for managing the RISC System/6000 through Openview
would be to purchase Systems Monitor and then load the sysmon MIB
through the Openview MIB loader to manage the remote machines.
