Problem unmounting NFS filesystem

Question:

Customer is trying to unmount an NFS mounted filesystem. Tried to use
smit and also tried to unmount it from the command line.

The following error message is given:

1831-015 16 : Error while unmounting X2:/home specified file does not 
support ioctl call

Response:

The customer gets the error message  mentioned earlier when trying to
umount a filesystem. When a umount is tried again on another filesystem
(either NFS or local) the error message repeats but contains the other
filesystem mount point instead of the filesystem that was asked to be 
umounted.

This is reported defect. The APAR associated with this defect is IX38252.
It is included in the AIX 3.2.5 PMP (U493250). The specific PTF number
is U422452.
