Logical volumes not being recognized

Question:

After a circuit breaker went out, we were experiencing problems and so
I rebooted the system and now I'm having big problems with three LVs
on my user-defined volume group. The user-defined volume group consists
of five disks. When I try to vary them on I get "PVREMOVED" for three
of the disks. Incidentally, these three disks are external and went
down when the circuit breaker went out. Here is the output we get when
we try to varyon the uservg volume group:

PV Status: hdisk0 - PVREMOVED
           hdisk1 - PVREMOVED
           hdisk3 - PVREMOVED
           hdisk8 - PVACTIVE
           hdisk12 - PVACTIVE
varyonvg: Volume group uservg is varied on.

Response:

This is happening because the three external disks were marked
as removed when you took the power hit. You had been forcing
the import and varyon of the volume group and the external disks
were forced to a removed state.

You should try making the three drives active with the following
commands:

  chpv -v a hdisk0
  chpv -v a hdisk1
  chpv -v a hdisk3

After you run those commands, varyoff and varyon uservg and see
if that corrects the problem.
