Hostname and TCP/IP configuration disappear after reboot.

Question:

     Customer is running AIX 3.2.3e. Whenever the machine is rebooted 
the TCP/IP configuration and the hostname disappear.

Response:

The system was booted with the key in the service position. It worked 
fine when the system is booted with the key in the normal position.
