inconsistent return from "lscfg -vl sysunit0" command

Question:

Customer is looking for a command that will return CPU model/type info.
The customer has 3 systems that return this info with the
"lscfg -vl sysunit0" command. The output is in the following form:

  DEVICE LOCATION DESCRIPTION

  sysunit0 00-00 RISC System/6000 System Unit

Machine type and model ......ME 7012-34H
        Serial number ...............ME 2662667

On all other machines the machine type/model/serial information is
not provided. Customer was told the the ME stands for manually
entered. Customer would like to know how to "manually enter" this info for
all his systems so the lscfg command can be used to query the data.

Response:

To manually enter the VPD:
execute 'diag'
select: Service Aid
Display or Change Configuration or Vital Product Data (VPD)
        Display/Alter VPD
        sysunit0
                Enter VPD data.....
