I need help with NIS (Yellow pages)
Question:
The customer has added the NFS automounter to the
end of the /etc/inittab file. The automounter reads its
configuration from NIS. When the system is rebooted, he
can no longer access the automounted directories. He also had
a question about the response from a "pwd" in a automounted
directory, it returns "/tmp_mnt/xxx".
Response:
Prior to AIX 3.2.4, if NIS is configured with the "both" option from SMIT,
the /etc/rc.nfs file is changed, but it will not add an entry to the
/etc/inittab file. This can be corrected by configuring NFS with the
"both" option from SMIT. Configuring NFS will add the /etc/rc.nfs
entry to the /etc/inittab file.
The response from the pwd command is working as designed. It behaves
the same way on a SunOS 4.1.2 system.
