Cannot get terminals to work on 128 port adapter.
Question:
I have a RISC System/6000 with a 128 port adapter connected to it.
On this adapter I have some Wyse 50 terminals that are working and
some ADDS Viewpoints that are not. I have tried adding the Viewpoints
as both viewpoint (which there is a terminfo file entry for) and dumb.
In both cases, I can get a login, enter my ID, and press enter. At
this point, nothing happens. The curser moves under the "l" in login
and it just hangs there. I am able to cat to the screen. I have
redigested the terminfo file with "tic adds.ti" I have tried changing
the settings on the terminal. I also have a PC connected serially that
is experiencing the same problem. I realize that I may need to contact
ADDS for help setting up the terminal, but right now I am suspicious
that the stty run time and login attributes may not be set correctly.
Could you please help me with this?

Check the setup on the Viewpoint. The ADDS Viewpoint terminal has
hardware switches for configuration. They are as follows:
1--- baud rate
2--- baud rate (1 and 2 on, 3 off: 9600; all on, 19200)
3--- baud rate
4--- auto scroll (on enables)
5--- auto line feed (on enables)
6--- full duplex (on enables)
7--- parity
8--- parity (7 off, 8 on: even; 7 off, 8 off: odd)
The customer's terminal is setup as:
9600 BAUD
Auto Scroll Disabled
Auto Line Feed Enabled
Full Duplex Enabled
EVEN Parity
In SMIT, the customer has the following:
9600 BAUD
viewpoint terminal type
8 bpc
1 stop bit
no parity
Notice that there is not a hardware switch on the ADDS Viewpoint for
bits per character or number of stop bits. This terminal only supports
7 bits per character and 2 stop bits.
You should go into SMIT and setup the terminal as 7/2/EVEN and that
should allow you to login to the ADDS Viewpoint. You may also want to
disable Auto Line Feed and enable Auto Scroll so that everything is
displayed nicely on the screen.
