Netview/6000 autodiscovery problem
Question:
I have just installed Netview/6000 on a RISC 560 running 3.2.4 The IP
address of this RISC is 128.100.72.31, there are five other machines
on the token ring, with addresses beginning with 128.100.72. TCPIP is
set up, I can ping to the machines on the token ring. I have
autodiscovery on, but I cannot see any machines past the routers
on the network. Something is really wrong here, because Netview is
not seeing the routers as routers, but as workstations.
Response:
The routers had an snmp community set to something other than public
which is the default community for all nodes with NetView/6000.
The community name for devices in the network can be configured from the
'Options -> SNMP Configuration' menu option.
