Backup invoked from cron fails on AIX 3.2.4

Question:

Customer has a simple ksh script run from cron that executes find and
backup.  It worked fine with AIX 3.2.2.  On AIX 3.2.4 he gets error
message "0511-089 cannot open /dev/tty:"

Response:

Advised customer to use the "-q" option with the backup command.  That
option says to run in quiet mode and does not prompt the user to
ensure the medium is ready.
