CICS/6000 to CICS/Mainframe Function Shipping fails with DFH2236I

Question:

CICS/6000 to CICS/ESA function shipping fails with the following 
message being written to the CICS/6000 console.msg:

DFH2236I Transaction CPMI ABEND ACN1 in program DFHCCNV

What is wrong?

Response:

This message indicates that no conversion tables have been set up for
ASCII to EBCDIC conversion, on the host.  In fact a dummy entry would
allow Function Shipping to complete and more specific entries are only
required if conversion is necessary - ie. you might not want all data
converted as its binary.

A full description of how to set up ASCII/EBCDIC conversion templates is 
given in the CICS/6000 Intercommunications Guide (SC33-0815-01) and the 
Communicating with CICS/OS2 manual (SC33-0736-1) provided with CICS/ESA 
- the manual predates CICS/6000 but the same conversion tables are 
applicable.
