*CUSTOMER REP: Liyan Cao
PROBLEM:
Customer is hanging at LED 613 during a network boot.
*ACTION TAKEN:
The code for this LED is as so:
\# Set gateway, if any
if [ "$BOOT_GATE_IP" != 0 ]
then route add $BOOT_SERV_IP $BOOT_GATE_IP
[ "$?" -ne 0 ] && loopled 0x613
GATEWAY=$BOOT_GATE_IP
else GATEWAY=undefined
fi
Customer's IP Addresses are as follows:
server ip: 129.1.10.200
client ip: 129.1.1.75
client's gateway ip: 129.1.1.230
server's gateway ip: 129.1.10.230
1)
exportfs
/usr -ro,root=test240
\#This is ok
2)
more /tftpboot/test240.sbinfo
SPOTSRV=129.1.10.200
SPOTGATE 129.1.10.230
INSTSRVR = 129.1.10.200
INSTGATE 129.1.10.230
\#This is not correct. The INSTGATE and SPOTGATE entries should be the
client's gateway address of 129.1.1.230
3)
cd /etc/bootptab
test240:bf=/tftpboot/test240:ip=129.1.1.75:ht=token ring:
sa129.1.10.200:gw129.1.10.230
\#This is not correct. gw129.1.10.230 should be the client's gateway
address of 129.1.1.230.
Explained that the in the "Add or Change a Network Boot Client" menu
the field "Client gateway address (optional)" had the server's gateway
address instead of the client's.
Once we change this field to the CLIENT's gateway address, the
network boot completed as usual.
For Example:
smitty sysback
