PROBLEM:
We have a modem setup on a 7318-S20 and want to dial up to
it and get an AIX login prompt. We don't want to use SPX/IPX
(P10 style port). How do we set this up?
*ACTION TAKEN:
cd /usr/lib/cns
edit the \.cfg file and find the [Port\#\#]
stanza for the port to which the modem is attached.
Set all [session\#\#] stanzas to have "application=reserved"
to have application=reserved EXCEPT for one of them should
have "application=telnet AIXhostname"
In the [Port\#\#] stanza change the initstring= to the setup
string which should be sent to the modem. For example:
[Port\#\#]
stty=\
initstring=at&f&c1&d2s0=1q1e0\\r
...
...
[Session\#\#]
port=\#\#
application=telnet AIXhostname
All other [Session\#\#] for the port should have
application=reserved
This worked as desired. Dialing into the modem then telnets
to the AIX host.
