Unable to write to 3590 tape drive - no smc device

ENV: SP Node
        AIX 4.1.5
        Atape.3.2.0.7
        3590 tape drive

PROBLEM: Moved a 3590 from another system and can't get the
Atape.driver to communicate with the drive. When he
selects option 12 from tapeutil menu he gets error 22.

ACTION TAKEN: lsdev -Cc tape --> rmt0 available --> no smc device
The settings on the drive are: random, magazine locked

ACTION PLAN: Research and call customer back.

CUSTOMER REP: Brad Robinson

ACTION TAKEN: Called customer and had him check the tape drive markings
for type of drive --> B11 on the sticker
lscfg -vl rmt0 shows the drive to be a B1A.

ACTION TAKEN: Talked with Tom Glass and he said to have the customer
remove the front panel exposing the CE panel. Press
the button that shows the wrench, select config, then
make changes telling it about the acf, etc. Press reset.
rmdev -dl rmt0 Run cfgmgr. It works now.

ACTION PLAN: Close the item.
