*CUSTOMER REP: Steve Witty

 PROBLEM:
Customer is unable to create the second volume group on his
tape fullsystem backup with two vgs (rootvg and datavg)
He states he is getting rewind error messages.

*ACTION TAKEN:
Possible micro problem with the tape drive
His microcode level is 562B, current release is 5ALA.

lsdev -Cc tape --> rmt0 avail 4mm 4gb Tape Drive

     Machine Type / Model: IBM4326NP/RP
     Device Specific (z1): 562B

This is an internal 4mm 4GB tape drive = 7206-005

In order for the microcode to install successfully via diag you must
rename the file from V5ALA443.IBM to IBM4326N.30303131.5ALA and
place it in the /etc/microcode directpry.

To perform the download, be sure that the drive has no tapes loaded:

  diag
   Service Aids
    Microcode Download
     Download Latest Level
      Select Drive
Press Enter at message to remove tapes
"Do you have microcode on diskette?" --> NO

Since the drive is internal you must do the following to make the
download take effect:

rmdev -dl rmt0
shutdown the machine --> and power off for a few seconds
power on

*ACTION PLAN:

Closing with Customer Approval
