Question:

Env:
  AIX 4.2
  RISC 390
  sysback 4.1.1.4
  Tape 8mm 5gb

Problem:
I stacked to backup images on tape
Both were volume group backup images.

I am the command this way:

  remakevg -i2 -f /dev/rmt0 -l rawlv1 rawlv raw1lv raw1lvt

The image I was going to does NOT have these logical volumes in the
backup. (This was a test). Those logcial volumes were in the other
  backup image.

Here is how each image looks on the tape:

  -------
  Image 1
  -------
sbread -v /dev/rmt0
Reading TOC - Volume Group backup of sbvg.
  Created on Mon May 19 09:01:51 1997
  By root at mars.
1 /home sbvg hd1 0
2 - sbvg rawlv 16
3 - sbvg rawlv1 16
4 - sbvg raw1lvt 16

--------
Image 2
--------
sbread -v /dev/rmt0.1
Reading TOC - Volume Group backup of rootvg.
   Created on Mon May 19 09:08:28 1997
   By root at mars.
1 / rootvg hd4 2
2 /usr rootvg hd2 181
3 /tmp rootvg hd3 1
4 /var rootvg hd9var 0

See this file with the debug information in it:
/home/sysback/remakevg.debug

Here is the output I got:
