How to get CD on an 8-pin RJ45 connector with the 128-port adapter.

Question:

I would like to be able to change the 128-port adapter CD pin
assignment from pin 10 to pin 2. This would enable me to use the
8-pin RJ45 connector as opposed to the 10-pin. Can this be done?

Response:

If you are configuring a terminal (tty) on this port, you can specify
"Use alternate RJ45 pinouts" on the SMIT menu for creating the tty.
This has the above desired affect.

To do this on a printer you need to do this by hand using the stty-cxma
command as follows (this command is located in /usr/lbin/tty):

\# stty-cxma altpin /dev/lpX (where X is the printer number)

To verify that the change was made, you can use the command:

        \# stty-cxma -a /dev/lpX (where X is the printer number)

and "altpin" should show up instead of "-altpin".
