Losing access to data when mirroring between 2 disks.

Question:

I am setting up mirroring on a new volume group (uservg) that spans
hdisk1 and hdisk2 (external disks). When I have everything sync'd and
turn off hdisk2, everything still works OK. I can recover hdisk2 and
resync the data. But if I turn off hdisk1, I get I/O errors when
trying to access any data in the volume group.

Response:

This is expected since you are loosing the quorum only when the first disk
is turned off (first disk has 2 VGDAs). When you loose quorum, the
entire volume group, and all copies, are made unavailable.

To mirror on a 2-disk system and still have high availability, you must
turn off the quorum checking using the -Q flag to the chvg command.

Customer has 3.2.3 installed and does not have the 2-disk mirroring enhancement.
Suggested he install 3.2.4 to get this enhancement and turn off quorum
checking to resolve his problem. PTF number for the mirroring/quorum
enhancement is U491061.
