Unable to see the servers tape drive from the client system
using SYSBACK.
Response:
Environment: 250, SP node AIX 4.1.5
sysback 3.3.3.11
Description: Customer is trying to backup the node to the 250 control
workstation but the server tape drive is not listed as an option.
Action: Confirmed that remote services is set up properly on both
client and server. sblient \ echo works. Customer is able
to see the remote disk file option but not the tape drive.
I had customer run the backup from the command line and this worked
successfully.
I further explained network boot issues of sp nodes.
Next: Research tape drive issue.
Test: na
Response:
Response:
Action: Tried to call customer back at 518-486-9580 but received a
busy signal.
Response:
Action: Customer called back and stated the backup from the command
lined failed with message about unable to generate filelist.
We ran a test of a files or directory backup and this generated
backup error:
unable to create /tmp/\filelist
0403-005
We looked at permissions on the /tmp. They were incorrect. Thus
the sbnet user was unable to generate files. We changed the /tmp
permissions to drwxrwxrwt and now the tape drives showed up and
all is working properly.
