can't start application - system thinks it is still active

Env: 3.2.5 model:7011

Desc: Customer has a 3rd party application that he cannot access because
the system thinks that the application is already active. The customer
cannot see the process running in the process table, but knows that it is
still active.

Action: Had the customer check for attached shared memory segments that may
have become hung and there was one. ipcs -m -->> showed a memory segment
that was still attached even after a reboot. Ran ipcrm -m sharedmemoryid
to remove it. It did not free the segment. It did put a 'd' in front of the
mode. We are rebooting the system to see if the shared memory segment will
release.

After rebooting, the shared memory segment was freed and the customer
was able to get into the application.
