Trying to install MarkNet printer - error 1800-106

Question:

Model: 970
Trying to install network printer. Getting to smit menu
of add a print queue. Receiving error at that point. 

ENV:
AIX 4.1.4
7015-970

DESC:
I installed Lexmark Marknet adapter software and had some problems. I
rejected the software and after that I can't get into any SMIT screens
to add a print queue.

ACT:
Cleared /smit.log:   >/smit.log
smit mkpq

When we do this /smit.log shows this error:
 1800-106 ODM 20: Error Opening Device Manager.

We looked in /etc/objrepos and found that all SMIT screen links to
/usr/lib/objrepos were gone.

We manually recreated the 8 missing links from 
 /etc/objrepos -> /usr/lib/objrepos

Now when you go into smit mkpq:

The error 1800-106 odm (2) error
 error opening device manager
 /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/piolsvp
 1800-050 error exit status
   
Found previous item (CB0812) in which installing bos.dlc fixed this
same problem....

lslpp -l bos.dlc*
   The software was there, but to be on the safe side we did:

TESTING on recreating problem after removing and readding LexMark
MarkNet software:

On my AIX 4.1 system that is broken after removing the LexMark
software, I find that I can run the following command and get
an error:
\# /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/piolsvp -A
0782-606 /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/piolsvp: Error 'No such file or directory' in opening the fi
le /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/LexLink.attach
 \# ls /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/L*
/usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/LexLink.attach
\# ls -l /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/L*
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     printq        27 Mar  9 1996  /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/LexLink.attach 
-> /usr/lpp/lap/LexLink.attach

This is an indication that a link has been left in to
/usr/lpp/lap/LexLink.attach in /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/LexLink.attach.

After removing /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/LexLink.attach the 
 /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/piolsvp -A
 runs with no problems.

On user system ran:
smit mkpq gives error:
 1800-106

\# /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/piolsvp -A
 0782-606 /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/piolsvp: 
 Error 'No such file or directory'  ena.config
 ls -l /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/ena.config showed a link to
 /usr/lpp/ena.config which is not there after the install.
 Also found ina.config and marknet.config.
Removed these files:
 usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/ena.config
 usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/ina.config
 usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/marknet.config
These are files left over from AIX 3.2.5 and the links cause problems.

Customer typed: smitty mkpq and this time it ran without errors.
