HACMP 4.2 questions

Question:

Will the lazy update feature of HACMP 4.2 preserve volume group
information such as VG major number, lv ownership, fs ownership,
quorum, and varyon status?

Will there be (or is there already) a PTF to support MAC address
failover for FDDI prior to HACMP 4.2.1 (1H97)?

Is the correct flag for running smsia (SysMon) with HACMP "-h" or
"-H"? (In the response, please show the complete line from
/etc/rc.tcpip.)

Response:

I will answer your questions in the order asked:
Q1: Will the lazy update feature of HACMP 4.2 preserve volume group
information such as VG major number, lv ownership, fs ownership,
quorum, and varyon status?
A1: The lazy update feature of HACMP 4.2 does preserve the major
number and the varyon status, it does not preserve the lv ownership,
fs ownership, or quorum. The lazy update feature mearly performs an
exportvg and an importvg where the importvg flags specify the major
number, the vg name and a pv name of the vg.
Q2: Will there be (or is there already) a PTF to support MAC address
failover for FDDI prior to HACMP 4.2.1 (1H97)? At this time their is
no official MAC address support for FDDI in HACMP 4.2. HACMP
development said that their extensive testing with FDDI has proven to
be too unstable to be supported for HWAT and therefore will probably
never be supported unless the FDDI device driver stablizes enough to
support HWAT.
Q3: Is the correct flag for running smsia (SysMon) with HACMP "-h" or
"-H"? (In the response, please show the complete line from
/etc/rc.tcpip.)
A3: Systems Monitor should be called with the "-H" flag in order to
run properly in an HACMP environment. In smitty sm6k.. local
operations.. control sia (or midmand) Can set it up to work in an
HACMP environment. Then with cursor on local can do a PF4 and get a
list of options. Select save flags. This will create (if not already
there) a file called /usr/etc/sysinfod.flags. If the sia agent is
started with the smsia command in the rc.tcpip file and not with the
sysinfod command, then it should read this file and start it with the
flags listed.
