Question:
Env:
AIX 4.2
RISC R40
Tape 3590-B11
Atape 3.1.0.5
Problem:
Customer runs this command:
tapeutil -f /dev/rmt0 inventory
Operation failed with errno 22: Invalid Argument
Action Taken:
I had the customer first put the tape drive
in RANDOM mode and push the lock button on the
tape drive.
Still the command failed with the same error message as
above.
I had the customer do this
---------------------------
cd /dev
ls -l rmt0.*
There was not a rmt0.smc device
Had the customer make sure the tape drive was in RANDOM mode
rmdev -dl rmt0
cfgmgr
ls -l rmt0.*
Now it shows up correctly
