Can't install from another system

Question:

Env:
  AIX 4.2
  sysback 4.1.1.2
  RISC 43p

Problem:
  Created a boot image on one 43p and booted from that image to service mode
  Once booted up, I wanted to install from another system.  So I changed
  the input device and pointed to a different server and set the gateway.
  I then choose option 2 which failed stating the remote services where not setu  .  I went into the shell and noticed the /etc/hosts file was not updating
  when I make changes the server and gateway.  
  I was able to change these by hand which corrected the 
  problem.  

WORKAROUND:
1.  choose the option to perform system maintenance
2.  mkdir /var/tmp
3.  vi /etc/hosts
    Change the options to match correct values
    instserver and instgateway
4.  sync;sync
5.  exit
