  HOW TO MOVE TAPES AROUND IN A 3570 TAPE DRIVE
 ----------------------------------------------

First you will need to have this fileset installed on the
system:  Atape.driver 2.6.1 or higher installed
lslpp -h Atape.driver   determines the level 

These can be ftp from these sites:

ftp 208.200.29.244  (index.storsys.ibm.com)
login: anonymous   password:  \
cd devdrvr/AIX
bin
Atape.\#.\#.\#.\#.bin  (where the \# is the level of Atape)
quit

ftp 198.17.57.67  (testcase.boulder.ibm.com)
login: anonymous   password:  \
cd /aix/fromibm
bin
Atape.\#.\#.\#.\#.bin  (where the \# is the level of Atape)
quit

To install the new driver:
rmdev -dl rmt\#   (remove the tape drive first)
installp -acqd Atape.\#.\#.\#.\#.bin all
cfgmgr


You will need to first put the tape drive in RANDOM MODE  to 
use the tapeutil command.

Done on the front panal of the tape drive
OPTIONS---->SET LIBRARY MODE---->RANDOM

Where slot 31 is the input/output slot
Where 32 is the right most slot
Where 50 is the left  most slot

To load a tape from slot 34 to the tape drive:
  tapeutil -f /dev/rmt\# mount 34

To load a tape from slot 41 to the tape drive:
  tapeutil -f /dev/rmt\# mount 41

To unload a tape drive the tape drive to slot 34
  tapeutil -f /dev/rmt\# umount 34

To unload a tape drive the tape drive to slot 41
  tapeutil -f /dev/rmt\# umount 41
