0516-307 getlvname unable to get name in database
Question:
Env:
AIX 4.1.4
Two sp2 high nodes
sysback 3.3.3.11
Problem:
The customer boots one high node from another with
sysback using the network boot method.
This is a boot into maintenance mode using bootp and tftp
and which will also mount /usr onto the client machine from the
server simlar to the way NIM does it.
He choose option 3 "INSTALL system with default settings"
from the sysback main menu. It creates the volume group
rootvg correctly, but fails to be able to create any
logical volumes.
It failes with this error message when creating hd5 using
this syntax: mklv -y hd5 -t boot -ae rootvg 2 hdisk0
0519-004: libodm: specific search criteria
is in incorrect form.
Make sure that criteria contains valid
descriptor names and that the values are
correct.
0516-307 getlvname unable to get name in database
Action Taken:
This is a known defect with bos.obj.lvm. It is fixed
with this APAR IX66161 - GETLVNAME OR GETVGNAME FAIL
BECAUSE OF MEMORY CORRUPTION
WORKAROUND:
In order to work around this, we commentted out the
following lines in /usr/sbin/mklv on the boot server
machine.
LVNAME=`getlvname $NFLAG $LVNAME $YFLAG $YVAL $TYPE`
test_return $?
Choose the option to perform system maintenance on
the client system.
1. mklv -y hd5 -t boot -ae rootvg 2 hdisk0
2. exit
Now the install complete without errors.
Action Plan:
This fix is not yet been released. This problem only
seems to occurr in service mode during a install. So
the customer will use the workaround until the fix
has been released.
