The sbdevice command is core dumping
Question:
Env:
AIX 3.2.5
RISC 590
sysback 3.3.3.12
Tapes rmt0 7332, rmt9 1/4" 150mb, rmt10 4mm 2gb
Desc:
Customer creates these virtual devices
vdev0 rmt0 seq
vdev1 rmt9 seq
vdev2 rmt0 rmt9 mult-copy
vdev3 rmt10 seq
vdev4 rmt0 rmt9 rmt10 mult-copy
Then the .remote_access file looks like this:
+all:+all:vdev0 vdev1 vdev2 vdev3 vdev4::
When the customer runs this command from the client
sbclient mod590 sbdevice -r vdev4
The sbdevice command core dumps on the server system and
the sbclient command returns a return code of 1 on the
client side.
The command runs correctly without error on the local
system where the tape drives and virtual devices are
configured, but only fails remotely.
Once I remove one of the vdev\# from the .remote_access
file the command works fine on the client system.
When the file looks this way it seems to work correctly
+all:+all:/dev/rmt0 /dev/rmt1 /dev/rmt2 vdev0 vdev1 vdev2 vdev3 vdev4::
So I am puzzled on what the problem seems to be
To work around the problem, I have had the customer just
put a all instead of the device names
Description:
Core dump sometimes occurred when running remote
sbdevice, sbread or sbwrite commands when there were
multiple virtual devices configured on the server in
the .remote_access file.
Fixed with sysback 3.3.3.13
