Description of location codes for MCA SMP machines.

Question:

Env: G30, J30, R30, G40, J40, R40

Desc: What do the location codes means on these SMP boxes? Some of the
codes do NOT match what other microchannel based RISCs have.

Action:

The location codes within these model machines is affected by a
facility referred to as "RDS".

Part of this is used to identify storage subsystems either internal to
the machine or external.

The SCSI device location codes have the following general format for
MCA SMP systems:

     X0-01-00-5,0
     || || || | |
     || || || | |--- Logical unit number (LUN)
     || || || |
     || || || |--- SCSI ID (SID)
     || || ||
     || || ||--- SCSI bus number (0,1, or S)
     || || |
     || || |--- On MCA SMP systems with RDS, this will be either 'A'
     || || or 'B' to indicate the bus in the cabinet to which the
     || || device is connected. Otherwise, it is '0'.
     || ||
     || ||--- Slot number.
     || |
     || |--- MCA bus number.
     ||
     ||--- Always 0.
     |
     |--- On MCA SMP systems with RDS, this will indicate the cabinet
          number in which the device is located. An 'X' means that
          the device is not located in an RDS controlled cabinet. On
          other systems it will always be '0'.
