SMIT hangs when I try to change/show print queue characteristics

Env:  Aix v4.1.4
      Model F30  Machine Type 7025

Desc:  If I try to do a change/show characteristics on a 
print queue, the smit screen hangs.  If I try to add a print queue,
or remove a print queue...it hangs.  If I go to manage a print queue
or list print queues the smit screens work fine.  I have ten print 
queues all of the queues are local lp devices.  If I send a print job
to any of the print queues it print fine.

ACT:
This is often the result of DNS problems.  If you have an 
/etc/resolv.conf file, mv it out of the way and try using SMIT to
change/show characteristics of a queue and see if the hang still
occurs.

mv /etc/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf

Now all is fine with change/show print queues.

Tried to see what was wrong with resolv.conf

nameserver 205.146.99.2
domain thiel.edu

Tried to ping the nameserver and couldn't.

Explained that SMIT screens for print queues are kept in
/var/spool/lpd/pio/@local/smit and there are links to this directory
from /var/spool/lpd/pio/\ so that systems can share the files
within these directories.  However, if a hostname cannot be looked
up because of a name resolution problem, then the smit screens will
not be accessable.
