Printing to MarkNet XLE adapter without LexLink software

ENV:
AIX 4.1.4
Unknown machine model
Lexmark XLE network printer adapter

DESC:
We just received a Lexmark XLE MarkNet adapter and we are trying to
setup print queues from AIX to this server. We have downloaded
Lexmark's Lexlink software from their web site, but when I attempt
to add a print queue via SMIT, I get this error:

1800-106 ODM 20: Error Opening Device Manager.

ACT:
This is because the Lexmark Lexlink software is looking for the
ODM files in the directory where they used to be in AIX 3.2.x instead
of at AIX 4.x. You can install bos.dlc fileset on AIX 4.1.x which
will create links to the new ODM file locations.

You wanted to know if you can print to the XLE via TCP/IP instead of
via MAC address using the LexLink software. YES.

Look at the bottom of the XLE and get the ethernet hardware address,
labeled "EUC" - it's the 12 digit hex number on the right, written in
red.

Run this command:
arp -s ether \ \ perm

Where IP_ADDRESS is the IP address you wish to assign the XLE and
MAC address is the hardware address on the bottom of the XLE, seperate
each byte with colons, like this: 00:11:ab:cd:ee:0a

Now you should be able to ping the MarkNet XLE by IP address.
Not the arp command above will be lost at reboot, to make it
permanent, add this same command to the end of the /etc/rc.net file.

Now you can setup a print queue to the XLE as though it were an HP
JetDirect, eliminating the need for the LexLink software.
