How to set the default print queue at AIX 3.2.5 ?
ENV:
AIX 3.2.5
Unknown model
DESC:
We added a new print queue yesterday and accidently made it be the
default queue. How do we get our old default queue back?
ACT:
At AIX 4.X there are options in SMIT to select the default queue.
At AIX 3.2.X on the other hand, there is not command to change the
default queue.
In either case, the default queue is the one which appears first in
the /etc/qconfig file... When you add a new queue that is not the
default queue, it goes to the bottom of the file. If you make it
the default queue, you are inserting the information at the top of the
file.
To change the default queue, you can:
Make a backup copy of your /etc/qconfig: cp /etc/qconfig /etc/qconfig.bak
stopsrc -cs qdaemon
vi /etc/qconfig and rearrange the stanzas
startsrc -s qdaemon
You could also remove the default queue and readd it as not being the
default queue to move the stanza to the bottom of the file.
Other options include setting the PRINTER or LPDEST environment
variables to set default queues on a per-user basis.
