Jobs to HP JetDirect queue say RUNNING but nothing prints
ENV:
AIX 3.2.5
7013-550
DESC:
All queus are READY but jobs show QUEUED
ACT:
stopsrc -cs qdaemon ; startsrc -s qdaemon
All is printing fine except you have one queue "hpdup2" that you can't
print to. Jobs show "running" but nothing is coming out of the
printer.
lsque -q hpdup2
device = hp@hpprint
This is an HP JetDirect attached printer.
ping hpprint
Can ping without problem.
tn hpprint 9100
We get "connection refused" telling us some one already has a
connection to the printer.
netstat -a |grep hpprint - we're the ones with the connection to
the printer...
ps -ef |grep piohpnpf
There are two "piohpnpf -x hpprint" processes. We killed them
which takes the queue down (normal) and then enabled the queue.
Same thing - connection refused when you try to telnet.
host hpprint
hpprint is 199.103.215.93
host 199.103.215.93
Hangs
You are using DNS. We mv /etc/resolv.conf /etc/resolv.old and you
can now look up the hostname - looks like a problem with the DNS
server.... Still can't tn hpprint 9100.
Powered the printer off and tried to ping to see if you had
duplicate IP addresses and something other than the JetDirect card
was replying to the ping but wasn't listening on 9100. This was
the case - duplicate IP addresses on your network.
Locate the machine with duplicate IP address and change its IP or
the IP of the printer.
