sysback problem with setting up a remote client

Env:
  AIX 4.1.4
  sysback 3.3.1.25

Desc:
  Customer is running this command
  cfgremserver -a -h hostname

  Getting this error message

Either the server has not been configured for Remote Services
or has not enabled remote access from this host.

Action:
I checked the /usr/lpp/sysback/.remote_access file on the
server machine. It is set up correctly. On the client I
  ran this command:
  sbclient \ echo
    It worked

I put a set -x in this script
  /usr/lpp/sysback/netinst/scripts/checksbnet and in
  /usr/lpp/sysback/netinst/scripts/netinst.lib

./sbclient venice.ccd.bnl.gov checksbnet
+ [ -z 130.199.140.7 ]
+ + host 130.199.140.7
+ cut -d -f1
+ /usr/lpp/sysback/netinst/scripts/checksbnet[3]: /dev/null: cannot create
clienthost=
+ + echo
+ cut -d. -f1
clienthost=
+ [ -z ]
+ echo There is no HOSTNAME defined for IP address 130.199.140.7 on the server!
+ 1>& 2
There is no HOSTNAME defined for IP address 130.199.140.7 on the server!
+ exit 1

It appears on the server that the /dev/null file has the wrong
permissions. Which it does. It has 775 It should have
766.

Now the process works.

Next Action:
  Closing with customer approval
