problems with remote services
Question:
Env:
AIX 3.2.5
RISC 590
sysback 3.3.1.8
Desc:
Cannot set "Show disk image file backup/restore options?" to yes
on the client system.
First, on server gave remote root user authority to only
write to /dev/rmt0. On client side, smit menu
"Add or Change list of Remote Backup Services"
"Show disk image file backup/restore options?" to no.
This worked fine.
At later point gave all remote users permissions to server
directories. Went back to above menu and set
"Show disk image file backup/restore options?" to yes.
We then received error:
cfgremserver: Server has not permitted this host to write
to disk files.
Show below is the .remote_acces file on the server system.
+ralph:+root:/dev/rmt0::
+ralph:+all::/tmp:/usr
+ralph:+lmiller::/usr/lpp/sysback/bf /tmp:/usr/lpp/sysback/images /home
Shown below is the smit output of the "List client Access"
option:
Hostname: ralph
User: all
Devices: (none)
Backup Dirs: /usr/lpp/sysback/bf /tmp
Install Image Dirs: /usr/lpp/sysback/images /home
Hostname: ralph
User: lmiller
Devices: (none)
Backup Dirs: /usr/lpp/sysback/bf /tmp
Install Image Dirs: /usr/lpp/sysback/images /home
Hostname: ralph
User: root
Devices: /dev/rmt0
Backup Dirs: (none)
Install Image Dirs: (none)
This is a problem only if the root user on the client has not
been permitted disk file access by the server. Therefore, if
root does not have acces, no one does. This has been changed
so that the disk file access for root user is not checked prior
to configuring this option, but a note is displayed when
configuring to show disk file options indicating that only
users with backup directories configured on the server will
receive disk file backup options.
Fix in sysback 3.3.1.10
