queues won't enable since upgrade to 4.1.3
ENV: 990J, 3.2.5 --> 4.1.3 (client), 4.1.4 (server)
DESC: Customer has both local and jetdirect attached queues. It seems
that all queues go DOWN when jobs are sent to them.
ACT:
lsdev -Cc printer
showed lp0, lp1 AVAILABLE.
lptest 10 20 > /dev/lp0
"cannot create specified file"
lptest 10 20 > /dev/lp1
hung, but apparently it was running a different job?
troubleshooting these will have to wait till they can have the
printers switched to this system, and not busy.
I then had him try to ping his jetdirect attached printers.
All of them besides lp8 did respond, but it may be offline.
"lptest 10 20|qprt -Plp3" gave back:
0781-088 device lp3:hp@lp3 died running request ??? which is still
queued.
A test page off the printer did confirm the ip address report by
"host lp3".
lsquedev -qlp3 -dhp@lp3
showed a backend of /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc/piojetd
The piojetd and the piohpnpf files were present in /usr/lib/lpd/pio/etc
and seemed to be approx the right size.
When I had him move to the console (instead of telnetted in), he
found many errors about "cannot open file /var/spool/lpd/pio/dev/lp2@lp2.
I had him
cd /var/spool/lpd/pio
ln -s @local/dev ./dev
At this point he was able to enable the queues, and they began printing
correctly.
It seems that the upgrade process moved the device files for the
jetdirect printing, but does not update the /etc/qconfig file.
I suggest that they readd the queues under 4.1.
