NEEDS ASSISTANCE WITH DB2 RESTORING FILESYSTEMS

Env:
  AIX 4.1.3 Model R30
  DB2 2.1

Desc:
Used DB2 backup to backup 20gb database on on R30 to 10 2gb file
systems. Are not attempting to restore to another R30. Have
created an empty database on the target system and specified
that the database is stripped across 10 2gb filesystems (SMS
managed). When attempting to restore the database from the
  command line:
db2 restore database dbname from (list of 10 2gb filesystems)
      into newdbname
The restore is attempting to create/allocate space based on the
fs names on the original database.

Action:
Researched and there is a 'redirected restore' which is supposed
to allow for redefinition of the table space containers. The
option appears to be only available within database director.

There are also a several backup/restore issues addressed in the
  2.1 service pack.

Called customer and relayed findings. Customer was under the
impression the the 'prompt' option within database director
while running the restore was only for DMS table spaces.

Explained that I was under the impression the since a filesystem
is a 'container' then you should be able to 'redirect' the
  restore to the desired containers.

Next:
Customer is currently downloading the service pack and will
read the accompaning 'readme' to see the problems addressed
Will also attempt the restore within DD and select the option
to prompt for container redifinition. Customer will then
  callback and report status.

Response:

Customer called and left phonemail that problem has been resolved
  after performing the following steps:
obtained and installed DB2 2.1 service pack
used db2dd (database director) to restore the backup, which
then allowed 'redirection'/specification of the target
      containers.

Next:
  Closing call per customer message.
