7318-S20 will not conntect to PC based X-Client

Question:

Peter has a PC based X-Client Program. HCL Exceed/5, and has
no problem communicating to the native ( S1 and S2 ) ports.
When he attempts to start the same connection to the 7318,
he cannot make it work ( with CONSIDERABLE experience in this
area ).

Response:

DESC: I have Exceed. I can dial-in to the
native port on my RISC and the Client-Server connection works
perfectly. Removing and readding the tty to the 7318, it doesn't work
at all. The Exceed vendor suspects that the 7318 is capturing some of
the initialization characters.

Response:

ACT: Peter uses a normal
terminal session to connect to the RISC and then runs "sxprocess"
which is a piece of Hummingbird code. This starts up Xwindows on his
PC. He is testing this as another alternative to allow people to run
netscape at home. He can do this fine over the native serial port.
On the 7318, he gets logged in, and runs the "sxprocess". The modems
stay connected, and cpu time seems to get charged, but nothing
happens. Hummingbird has dialed in and confirms that he has his
software configured correctly.

If this is a problem with filtering characters because of the 7318, it
is probably the hotkeys. I suggested changing the "nhotkeys=0" for a
particular port on the 7318.

Informed customer that he should only have to reboot the 7318,
and not stop/start the cnsview daemon to make this change take effect.

...
Once these changes were put in, he was able to use the Exceed software
over the 7318 serial connection.
