Answer:

netmon gets the interface information from the MIB on the device.  Therefore,
it is important that you have snmp working correctly on devices that
have more than one interface card.  Also, netmon has gotten more smarter
and smarter over time, so upgrade to the latest version of NetView if
you can.  You can use the "snmpwalk ip \" and
"snmpwalk interfaces \" commands to see what the snmp agents
on your devices are reporting.
