NetView - ICON spacing on the NVAIX

Question:

Does anyone know if there is a way to control the ICON spacing on the NVAIX
Maps ? I have a problem where the Symbol Name overlaps other Symbol names on
either side of symbol. I am referring to the Interfaces of a node or even a
Ethernet rail.

Answer:

I can't think of a way to control the icon spacing, but there are
a couple of values in the /usr/OV/app-defaults/OVw file that you
might be able to change in order to prevent symbol labels from
overlapping.

First, you might try playing around with the symbol size (larger
symbols might give labels more space). Try changing the values:

/* OVw*defaultRadius:                   15       */
/* OVw*maxRadius:                       25       */

You might also try to make the symbol labels smaller. To do that,
try commenting out some of the larger font sizes, given below:

*size30Font:    -monotype-times new roman-medium-r-normal--13-100-100-100-p-73-
ibm-850
*size20Font:    -monotype-times new roman-medium-r-normal--13-100-100-100-p-73-
ibm-850
*size10Font:    -monotype-times new roman-medium-r-normal--13-100-100-100-p-73-
ibm-850

In addition, you could also play around with the submap scaling/zooming
from the Edit..Modify/Describe..Submap menu.

Even if you don't find an acceptable way to make the symbol labels more
prominent, if you want to see the label, simply put the mouse pointer
on the symbol, then press and hold the third mouse button. This will
display the symbol label, often in a larger and more readable font.
