NetView - Can NetView treat a bridge as a connector
Question:
Question:
> Can NetView treat a bridge as a connector between two segments of a network,
> along the lines of what it does for routers?
Answer:
NetView for AIX will discover all IP interface card(s) that are configured
on a bridge. In addition, if the sysObjectID in the MIB matches one
of the sysObjectID's in the /usr/OV/conf/oid_to_type file that has a ":B"
flag set, then the device will be drawn with a bridge symbol. To see
which sysObjectID's are associated with bridges, do this:
cd /usr/OV/conf
cat oid_to_type|grep ":B"
Because most bridges are configured with just a single IP address, it
is unlikely that you will see the bridge symbol connected to more
than one segment symbol.
It is our intent to have true Bridge MIB support in the near future.
It is difficult to say at this time when that functionality might be
available.
